About

Isioma (Issy) Idehen is a British-Nigerian filmmaker crafting visually striking, spiritually rooted stories across film and cultural media.

Her work explores diaspora identity, ancestral memory, and emotional truth — often weaving Igbo mythology and spirituality into contemporary narratives. She moves fluidly between narrative film, visual albums, and documentary-led storytelling, building textured worlds grounded in Black interiority.

Her debut short film Dear Creative — which she wrote, directed, shot, and edited — screened in Calgary and Atlanta in 2025. She is a recipient of the Decentralized Pictures Base Creator Award, recognizing her as an emerging voice within the global independent film community.

She was selected for the Montreal International Film Festival's Global Impact Program, where she began developing her narrative short In the Night I Dream, a project rooted in Igbo cosmology and dream states. She has also participated in industry mentorship initiatives supporting emerging Black filmmakers.

Beyond narrative film, she produced the podcast series The Voices of the First Daughter and has directed music-driven visual projects, including Godot, a visual album exploring poetry, performance, and sound.

With a foundation in accounting and creative direction, Issy approaches filmmaking with both structural precision and emotional depth. Her practice is guided by a commitment to building cinematic worlds that honour spiritual identity and cross-continental storytelling between Africa, Europe, and North America.
